Basketball Recap: Greater Beckley Christian Comes Up Short

After flying high against Pipestem Christian Academy last Monday, Greater Beckley Christian came back down to earth. The Greater Beckley Christian Crusaders opened the new year with a less-than-successful 61-48 loss to Elk Valley Christian. The defeat continues a trend for the Crusaders in their matchups with Elk Valley Christian: they've now lost five in a row.

Despite the loss, Greater Beckley Christian still got an impressive performance from Leah Adkins, who posted 31 points and three steals. Adkins' evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Braelyn Farrish, who had seven points and five steals.

Greater Beckley Christian's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Elk Valley Christian, they pushed their record up to 5-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.

Greater Beckley Christian will head out on the road to face off against Summit Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Elk Valley Christian, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Varsity Opponent at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
