After a string of three wins, the Eagle Rock Eagles's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They were outmatched by Crenshaw on the road and fell 65-19. While losing is never fun, Eagle Rock can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 305th, while Crenshaw is ranked 151st).
Crenshaw's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sarah Ramos , who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Ramos has scored at least 25% of Crenshaw's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Naomi Whitfield, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Eagle Rock's loss dropped their record down to 9-5. As for Crenshaw, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Eagle Rock will take on Temple City at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Temple City focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine back in December of 2023. Crenshaw and George Washington Prep will face off at 5:30 p.m. on January 10th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. That game will pit two of the most dominant players against one another: Jay'la Ray and Ramos.
