This season hasn't been kind to The Burges Mustangs, who are still winless after their seventh match. They had to suffer through a rough 42-7 loss at the hands of Chapin. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Burges in their matchups with Chapin: they've now lost three in a row.
Alex Rios threw for 37 yards and a touchdown. On the ground, Kayleb Hannah rushed for 104 yards.
Chapin's win on Thursday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Daveon Singleton, who rushed for 56 yards and a touchdown, and also picked up 72 receiving yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Carey Wade, who rushed for 154 yards and a touchdown while picking up 9.1 yards per carry.
Burges' loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 0-7. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 6-1 Del Valle and 6-2 Riverside (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 75.9% over those games). As for Chapin, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-2.
Burges will head out on the road to face off against El Paso at 7:00 p.m. on October 20th. As for Chapin, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Canutillo at 7:00 p.m. on October 20th.
