The Acalanes Dons will venture away from home to take on the Saint Francis Lancers at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Acalanes will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
Acalanes is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 9-3 margin over Chico. That's two games straight that the Dons have won by exactly six runs.
Acalanes got a great performance from Branson Smith as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Smith has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ando Butner, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. What's more, he posted two hits, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Drew Asadorian, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Saint Francis, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They walked away with a 5-0 victory over Central Catholic on Tuesday.
Not much got past Nick Chow, who gave up just four hits to keep Central Catholic off the board.
On the hitting side, Henry Dommer was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, one stolen base, and one double.
Acalanes pushed their record up to 18-10-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Saint Francis, their record is now 21-10.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Acalanes has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Saint Francis struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
