After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Randolph-Clay, Early County was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They blew past the Mitchell County Eagles 12-4. The Bobcats' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Lailah Means made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Means was also big at the plate, getting on base in both of her plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs.
In other batting news, Early County got a massive performance out of London Sherman, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. Those two runs gave Sherman a new career-high. Yoselin Garcia also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Early County's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-7. As for Mitchell County, they dropped their record down to 0-5 with the loss, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season.
