It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Mission Bay had no problem doing just that on Wednesday. They beat the Escondido Cougars by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 8-3. Winning may never get old, but the Buccaneers sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.
Van Playman made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Owen Oswald, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one double. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season. Kaden Jones was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.
