Jackson is a perfect 3-0 against Doniphan since September of 2023 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Fighting Indians will square off against the Dons at 4:30 p.m.
Jackson is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Missouri's top teams: Chaffee, who was ranked 19th at the time (Jackson was ranked 22nd). The Fighting Indians lost 8-1 to the Red Devils on Thursday. The Fighting Indians' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Doniphan). Their pitcher stepped up to hand Sikeston a 19-0 shutout on Friday. With that victory, the Dons brought their scoring average up to 7.3 runs per game.
Kenzee Davis made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, she posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in September of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Doniphan got a massive performance out of Bella Monaghan, who went 1-for-2 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. Tara Davis was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs and two RBI.
Doniphan always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .903. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Doniphan's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-1. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Jackson, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-8.
Jackson took their win against Doniphan when the teams last played back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 9-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Fighting Indians since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
