The Northeastern Bobcats put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against Mechanicsburg by a score of 54-41. This was payback for Northeastern, who suffered a 34-33 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Northeastern got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Mikayla Coleman out in front who scored 23 points along with three steals and three blocks. That's the first time this season that Coleman posted two or more blocks. Nylah Davis was another key contributor, scoring four points along with eight assists and seven rebounds.
Northeastern's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-0. As for Mechanicsburg, their loss dropped their record down to 4-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Northeastern will take on Lampeter-Strasburg at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Mechanicsburg's road trip will continue as they head out to face Hershey at 7:00 p.m. on January 3, 2024. Hershey has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
