Video: Brian Cushing high school football highlightsThe Houston Texans linebacker was a menace on the field growing up in New Jersey.Anyone who has watched HBO's hit show, "Hard Knocks," this season knows that on the football field, Texans linebacker
Brian Cushing is large, aggressive and imposing.
The reality is that Cushing has been that way since high school.
Before his NFL career and prior to his collegiate days at USC, Cushing was an other-worldly two-way star at
Bergen Catholic (Oradell, N.J.).
He starred at linebacker, and also spent significant time playing running back and receiver.
He also nearly single-handedly carried Bergen Catholic to a state title in 2004, scoring two touchdowns and recording three sacks in a 13-10 victory over rival Don Bosco Prep.
This year, as Cushing seeks to lead the Texans to the playoffs, Bergen Catholic will attempt to win its first state title since the Cushing-led team in 2004. With a season-opening victory last weekend and a
Top 25 national ranking, the Crusaders are off to a good start.
