Saint Francis has gone 8-2 against Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Lancers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Fightin' Irish at 4:00 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Saint Francis took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out Petaluma 5-4.
Elliot Hsu looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March of 2024.

On the hitting side, Tanner Wall was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Leeper, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory posted their closest win since April 12, 2024 on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Marin Catholic 4-3.
Quinn Middleton made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Middleton wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Evan Liu, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run. That triple marked the first that Liu has hit this season.
Saint Francis has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games. As for Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory, the victory got them back to even at 11-11.
Saint Francis' speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's match. The Lancers have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.3 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory, though, as they've been averaging only 1.1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Saint Francis continue to outrun the ball?
