Alex Chobany and Jenna Burkett were among the main playmakers for Portage as the former scored 14 points along with 8 rebounds and 4 steals and the latter dropped a double-double on 20 points and 10 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which Burkett has scored at least 25% of Portage's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cami Burkett, who scored 9 points along with 3 steals.
Penns Manor has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matchups by 34 points or more this season. They really took it to Central Mountain for the full four quarters, racking up a 65-31 victory at home. Given Penns Manor's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 34th, while Central Mountain is ranked 144th), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Portage's victory bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Penns Manor, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.
Portage came up short against Penns Manor in their previous meeting back in January, falling 42-36.
