John Adams Academy has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Fortune Early College Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Tuesday, John Adams Academy strolled past Westlake Charter with points to spare, taking the game 52-33.
It was another big night for Elliott Schwartz, who scored 22 points along with eight steals and seven assists. That makes it eight consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of John Adams Academy's points. Amelia Sabbagh was another key contributor, scoring four points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Fortune Early College entered their tilt with John Adams Academy with seven consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with eight. Fortune Early College blew past John Adams Academy 59-15 on the road. Fortune Early College has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten games by 28 points or more this season.
Fortune Early College's win on Tuesday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Heaven Graves, who scored nine points along with five assists and five steals. Graves has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Zakiyyah Abdul - Azeem, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 15 rebounds.
John Adams Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season. As for Fortune Early College, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-3.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the two teams are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. John Adams Academy hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 56.4 points per game. However, it's not like Fortune Early College struggles in that department as they've been averaging 56.3 points per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
