The Monticello Magic will venture away from home to challenge the Brainerd Warriors at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Monticello will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
Monticello is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Minnesota's top teams: Elk River, who was ranked 23rd at the time (Monticello was ranked ninth). The Magic blew past the Elks 14-3 on Wednesday.
Carson Deibele made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed six innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2025.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cale Holthaus, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and one double. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Anderson, who went 2-for-5 with two RBI and one run.
Meanwhile, Brainerd might've scored the first runs on Tuesday, but it was Bemidji who claimed the real prize. The Warriors fell just short of the Lumberjacks by a score of 2-1. The defeat continues a trend for the Warriors in their meetings with the Lumberjacks: they've now lost seven in a row.
Kashius Caughey spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits and racked up eight Ks.
At the plate, Brady Vanek was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season.
Monticello's record now sits at 16-3. As for Brainerd, their loss dropped their record down to 5-9.
Everything went Monticello's way against Brainerd in their previous meeting back in May of 2019, as Monticello made off with a 14-1 win. Do the Magic have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Warriors turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
