The Azusa Aztecs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their eighth straight loss. They were beaten by Garey 55-16. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Azusa has scored all season.
Even though they lost, Azusa were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Garey only pulled down six offensive rebounds.
It was another big night for Armani Owens, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 13 rebounds for Garey. That makes it 13 consecutive games in which Owens has scored at least 25% of Garey's points. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Herrera , who scored ten points along with seven rebounds.
Azusa has been struggling recently, as they've lost nine of their last 11 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season. As for Garey, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season.
Azusa will head out on the road to face off against San Gabriel at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. San Gabriel is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak. Garey will be home for the holidays to greet Pomona at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Pomona is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
