Even though the Crowley County Chargers have not done well against the Swink Lions recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Crowley County snuck past Swink with a 40-35 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Crowley County.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Crowley County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Nakayla Aguilar, who scored 13 points along with three steals. Aguilar's trending in the right direction, as she's improved his point production for three games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Emalee Ross, who scored nine points.
Swink's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jocelynn James, who scored 12 points. Hunter Wallace was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Crowley County's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-2. As for Swink, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Crowley County will take on Las Animas at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Las Animas focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 27 back in December of 2023. Swink won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Cheyenne Wells at 2:00 p.m. on January 13th. Hopefully Cheyenne Wells focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 on Thursday.
