Coalinga is 10-0 against Tranquillity since February of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Coalinga Horned Toads will head out on the road to face off against the Tranquillity Tigers at 5:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Coalinga has four straight victories, Tranquillity has eight straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Coalinga scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Farmersville and snuck past 75-72. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Coalinga can attribute much of their success to Jozlynn Marshall, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Marshall has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Addie Love, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Tranquillity was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Tuesday as they fell 27-21 to Avenal.
Coalinga has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-3 record this season. As for Tranquillity, they bumped their record down to 0-13 with that loss, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season.
Everything came up roses for Coalinga against Tranquillity in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 as the squad secured a 51-16 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Coalinga since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
