Mountain Empire extended their winning streak to six on Wednesday, bumping their season record up to 10-4 in the process. They were the clear victors by a 16-6 margin over the High Tech CV Bruins. The Redhawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by seven runs or more this season.
Jakob Shawcroft made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
In other batting news, Jesse Arnold and Cameron Leon did most of the damage at the plate: Arnold got on base in four of his five plate appearances with five runs, two stolen bases, and three RBI, while Leon went 3-for-4 with five stolen bases, one run, and one double. Those five stolen bases gave Leon a new career-high. Cayden Spears was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.
Mountain Empire was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .528. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
As for High Tech CV, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-8. That's two games in a row now that they have lost by exactly ten runs.
On High Tech CV's side, Adrian Estrada was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Another player making a difference was Daniel Cardoso, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Mountain Empire didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 27-2 victory against Bonsall on the 24th. As for High Tech CV, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 16-7 win against Ocean View Christian on the 24th.
