The Platte Valley Broncos had to endure a ten-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They blew past Wellington 63-35 at home. Platte Valley's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Platte Valley was led to victory by Alyssa Salazar and Lauryn Uyemura. Salazar scored 15 points along with six rebounds, while Uyemura scored 17 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Salazar has scored all season. Sydney Meyer was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with two steals.
Despite the loss, Wellington had strong showings from Kami Coen, who scored eight points, and Parker Walker, who scored six points along with six rebounds.
Platte Valley's victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-12. As for Wellington, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 4-8.
Platte Valley won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Lutheran at 2:00 p.m. on January 27th. The timing is sure in Lutheran's favor as the squad sits on five straight wins at home while Platte Valley has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road. Wellington will take on Frontier Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Frontier Academy comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 24 points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
