The Clayton Valley Charter Ugly Eagles typically have all the answers at home, but on Tuesday the Northgate Broncos proved too difficult a challenge. They had just enough and edged the Ugly Eagles out 41-39. Winning may never get old, but Northgate sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.
Northgate was led to victory by Hana Neuman and Amelia Schrag. Neuman almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds, while Schrag scored 19 points along with eight rebounds. It was the first time this season that Neuman pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Ava Nicolas, who scored two points along with four steals.
Northgate's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 20-8. As for Clayton Valley Charter, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 18-9.
Northgate will head out on the road to take on Acalanes on Thursday. Acalanes knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 11 games -- so hopefully Northgate likes a good challenge. Clayton Valley Charter does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
