The Covenant Christian Cougars are taking a road trip to take on the Brazos Christian Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Covenant Christian has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with three straight defeats, while Brazos Christian will come in with eight straight wins.
Covenant Christian is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Central Texas Christian on Thursday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Cougars were dealt a 49-8 loss at the hands of the Lions. The Cougars were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-0.

Despite the defeat, Covenant Christian got top-tier performance from Preston VanHouse, who rushed for 183 yards and one TD while picking up 8.3 yards per carry. Brady McDaniel also helped out with an impressive 96 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, Brazos Christian got themselves on the board against St. Paul on Friday, but St. Paul never followed suit. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Cardinals 48-0. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won seven matchups by 26 points or more so far this season.
Brazos Christian's win came from a few key players Covenant Christian will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Colton Garner, who rushed for 63 yards and a pair of scores. The team also got some help courtesy of Reed Jackson, who rushed for 60 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Brazos Christian was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 227 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2024.

Covenant Christian's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Brazos Christian, their record is now 8-0.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Covenant Christian has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 229.1 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Brazos Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 148.8 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Covenant Christian was dealt a bruising 55-7 defeat at the hands of Brazos Christian in their previous meeting back in November of 2024. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
