The Hemet Bulldogs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They took a 51-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of Canyon Springs. Hemet has not had much luck with the Cougars recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Glory Valencia and Hailey Wolbeck certainly did their best on Wednesday to avoid the loss. Valencia scored 12 points along with seven steals, while Wolbeck dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 rebounds. Wolbeck is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 11 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Ruby Lindsey, who scored six points along with five assists and four steals.
Canyon Springs' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Iyana Rojas, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds and two steals. It was the first time this season that Rojas scored 15 or more points. Kaleayah Marshall was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Hemet's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-9. As for Canyon Springs, they now have a winning record of 11-10.
Hemet will be playing at home against the Ravens at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Vista del Lago comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 21 points in their last five games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for Canyon Springs, they will head out on the road to face off against the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
