Baseball Recap: Point Pleasant Beach Wins Going Away Against South Amboy

With a playoff win on the line, Point Pleasant Beach rose to the challenge on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the South Amboy Governors. Considering the Garnet Gulls have won 11 matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

TOMMY CONROY was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, CARSON PFEIFER was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of DANNY LUBACH, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Point Pleasant Beach was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.

Point Pleasant Beach has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for South Amboy, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-13.

Coming up, Point Pleasant Beach will square off against Delaware Valley on Tuesday. South Amboy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
