On Saturday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Downey beat El Dorado 49-45.
Downey got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Salma Garcia out in front who scored ten points along with three steals. Garcia has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Taleyah Oporta, who scored seven points along with two steals.
Downey has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a massive bump to their 14-11 record this season. As for El Dorado, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 16-7.
Downey will head out on the road to face off against Lynwood at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. As for El Dorado, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Brea Olinda at 5:30 p.m. Brea Olinda will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 342nd, while El Dorado is ranked 77th).
