Franklin County hasn't had much luck against Cottondale recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Seahawks are taking a road trip to face off against the Hornets at 7:00 p.m. Franklin County is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 29 points per game this season.
Franklin County is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took their matchup on Friday with ease, bagging a 48-6 win over Graceville. With the Seahawks ahead 41-0 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Sadiq Jones was his usual excellent self, rushing for 74 yards and a pair of TDs, while also catching one touchdown. He also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, forcing one fumble and making four total tackles (1.0 for loss).
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Franklin County was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 238 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2024.
Another reason for the win was Franklin County's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for seven sacks. Graceville's QB won't forget Brayden Brown anytime soon given he sacked him twice. Franklin County received some extra help from Rylan Wood, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.
Meanwhile, Cottondale beat Wewahitchka 24-16 on Friday. The Hornets haven't had any issues with the Gators recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Cottondale's win came from a few key players Franklin County will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Zacarius Collins, who rushed for 107 yards and two scores on only 15 carries. Collins is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 107 every time he's taken the field this season. Trashonn Collins also helped with two TDs in total.
Cottondale now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Franklin County, their record now sits at 5-1.
Friday's contest will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Jones and Collins. Jones just won't slow down this season and has run in 2 touchdowns while averaging 29 rushing yards per game. Collins has been a dominant force too and has run in 9 touchdowns while averaging 185.4 rushing yards per game.
Franklin County was dealt a bruising 56-27 defeat at the hands of Cottondale when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Thankfully for the Seahawks, Jocarian Garrett (who rushed for 418 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 16.1 yards per carry) won't be suiting up this time.
