Reseda is 1-9 against Sylmar since February of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Reseda Regents will head out on the road to challenge the Sylmar Spartans at 4:30 p.m. Reseda is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses.
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Reseda ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They managed a 68-63 victory over Panorama. Reseda's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Meanwhile, Sylmar stacked a fourth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They claimed a resounding 58-19 victory over Canoga Park at home. Given Sylmar's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 466th, while Canoga Park is ranked 1190th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Sylmar's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mia Ceja, who scored 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Julie Pineda, who scored 14 points.
Reseda's record now sits at 4-6. Sylmar's record now sits at 9-4.
Reseda suffered a grim 68-42 defeat to Sylmar when the teams last played back in December of 2023. Can Reseda avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
