Washington is 9-1 against American since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Huskies are taking a road trip to take on the Eagles at 4:00 p.m. Washington's pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so American's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Washington's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past Mission San Jose 14-0. The Huskies haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.
Hugo Marks made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 16 over seven innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2025.
In other batting news, Joseph Guerra and Ehkam Braich did most of the damage at the plate: Guerra got on base in five of his six plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Braich went 2-for-4 with five RBI, one run, and one double. Guerra continues to improve, besting his previous run total in each of the last three games he's played. Carter Moore also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Washington always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .532. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mission San Jose only posted an OBP of .042.
The home team had come away the winner the last four times American and James Logan had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Eagles fell just short of the Colts by a score of 2-1 on Friday.
American's loss dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Washington, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Washington has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like American struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.1 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Washington beat American 4-1 in their previous meeting back in March of 2025. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Huskies since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
