The Hughson Huskies will face off against the Venture Academy Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Hughson 2.8, Venture Academy 2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Hughson is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They never let Ben Holt College Prep Academy get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory. Considering the Huskies have won 12 contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Bryce McDaniel made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Hughson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ben Holt College Prep Academy only posted an OBP of .176.
Meanwhile, Venture Academy entered their tilt with El Dorado on Tuesday with five consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with six. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 6-5 W against the Cougars.
Like Hughson, Venture Academy also got a great game from a two-way player: Angel Voller. He pitched six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off seven hits. Voller was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Voller wasn't the only one making solid contact as eight players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was David Mays, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.
Hughson is on a roll lately: they've won 18 of their last 21 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Venture Academy, they pushed their record up to 20-2 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home.
Venture Academy's pitching crew better be locked in on Thursday. Hughson hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.7 home runs per game. It's a different story for Venture Academy, though, as they've been averaging only 0 home runs. Will they be able to keep Hughson in the park?
