St. James Academy has gone a perfect 5-0 against Basehor-Linwood recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Thunder will square off against the Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as St. James Academy comes in on nine and Basehor-Linwood on 11.
St. James Academy is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They managed a 45-41 win over Mill Valley.

St. James Academy can attribute much of their success to John Hornback, who rushed for 101 yards and one score, and Jake House, who gained 112 total yards and four touchdowns. The dominant performance also gave Hornback a new career-high in passing yards (308). 160 of those passing yards were hauled in by Alec Jett, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.
Meanwhile, Basehor-Linwood got the win against Leavenworth on Friday by a conclusive 31-7. The Bobcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by 21 points or more this season.
Basehor-Linwood found their leader in sophomore Gavin Mitchell, who rushed for 114 yards and a pair of TDs. Carson Dixon was another key passer, throwing for 105 yards and one touchdown.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Basehor-Linwood was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 249 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 163 rushing yards in five consecutive contests.
Basehor-Linwood didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Tucker Hutchison, Noah Gutierrez, and Talon Elliott picked up one apiece.
St. James Academy's record is now 10-1. As for Basehor-Linwood, their record now sits at 11-0.
Friday's game will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Hornback and Dixon. Hornback just won't slow down this season and has thrown 19 touchdowns while averaging 169.1 passing yards per game. Dixon has been a dominant force too and has thrown 20 touchdowns (and and only 4 picks) while averaging 161.5 passing yards per game.
St. James Academy strolled past Basehor-Linwood in their previous matchup back in November of 2024 by a score of 37-19. Will the Thunder repeat their success, or do the Bobcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
