Basketball Game Preview: Wills Point Tigers vs. Community Braves

Wills Point is 4-0 against Community since January of 2023 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Wills Point Tigers will be playing at home against the Community Braves at 7:30 p.m.

Last Friday, Wills Point had to suffer through a 72-38 loss at the hands of McKinney Christian Academy. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1259th, while the Mustangs are ranked 72nd).

Despite the defeat, Wills Point got top-tier performance from Chris James, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten boards. Those 21 points gave James a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of William Walulik, who posted six points.

Even though they lost, Wills Point was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Community hadn't done well against Ranchview recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Community walked away with a 48-37 win over Ranchview.

Wills Point has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests, which is still a better percentage than their 4-17 record this season. As for Community, their victory bumped their record up to 13-8.

Wills Point was able to grind out a solid win over Community when the teams last played back in January of 2024, winning 50-40. Will Wills Point repeat their success, or does Community have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
