The North Penn-Liberty Mountie can finally bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Wednesday. They strolled past Canton with points to spare, taking the game 37-22. Winning is a bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 15 to 8 on the offensive boards, as North Penn-Liberty did.
Leading North Penn-Liberty to victory were Olivia Smith and Kaylee Graham. Smith scored seven points along with five rebounds, while Graham scored 13 points along with six rebounds. Graham continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.
Canton's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alexis McRoberts, who scored four points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Cailyn Van Noy, who scored seven points along with two steals.
North Penn-Liberty's win bumped their record up to 7-9. As for Canton, they dropped their record down to 6-12 with that defeat, which was their eighth straight on the road.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Sayre the next time they take the court. North Penn-Liberty will head out to face Sayre at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, while Canton will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on February 12th.
