West Campus saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maxton Creeger, who went 2-for-4 with seven stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. The Warriors are 8-1 when Creeger posts two or more stolen bases, but 4-10 otherwise.
Meanwhile, Burbank got themselves on the board against Valley on Thursday, but Valley never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 21-0 margin over the Vikings. Considering the Titans have won 11 games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Kevin Duplessis made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last three times he's played.
In other batting news, Burbank got a massive performance out of Jesus Cruz, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave Cruz a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kevion Duplessis, who went 2-for-4 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
Burbank always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Valley only posted an OBP of .235.
Burbank has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for West Campus, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-11.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. West Campus has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 7.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Burbank struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
West Campus came up short against Burbank when the teams last played back in April of 2024, falling 8-3. Can the Warriors avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
