Eden Christian Academy will head out on the road to take on the Union Area Scotties at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Eden Christian Academy has struggled recently with six losses in a row, while Union Area will arrive with nine straight wins.
Last Saturday, Eden Christian Academy came up short against Sewickley Academy and fell 47-35.
Despite their defeat, Eden Christian Academy saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Emmie Smith, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and two steals, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Allie Emswiler, who scored six points along with ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, Union Area can now show off ten landslide victories after their most recent contest last Monday. They took their game on the road with ease, bagging a 53-19 win over Bishop Canevin. Given Union Area's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 108th, while Bishop Canevin is ranked 416th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Eden Christian Academy's loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-12. As for Union Area, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season.
Eden Christian Academy was dealt a bruising 52-20 loss at the hands of Union Area in their previous matchup back in January. Can Eden Christian Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
