The Burke County Bears scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They blew past Horse Creek Academy, posting a 86-27 win on the road. The result was nothing new for Burke County, who have now won seven matchups by 20 points or more so far this season.
Burke County had a senior duo take command as Kelly Williams scored 18 points along with five assists and five rebounds and Derrick Streetman scored 13 points along with six rebounds and four steals. The match was Williams' fifth in a row with at least ten points. Bryce Wimberly was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Burke County is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season. As for Horse Creek Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 6-5.
Burke County will be playing at home against Wayne County at 8:30 p.m. on Friday. Wayne County will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 441st, while Burke County is ranked 132nd). Horse Creek Academy is on the road again on Wednesday and play against Pelion at 7:30 p.m. on January 3rd. Hopefully Pelion focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 two weeks ago.
