La Junta had lost three straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 7-5 to make it four. They fell just short of the Lamar Thunder by a score of 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Tigers have suffered since September 10, 2024.

Isabelle Aragon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on four hits and racked up 15 Ks. Those 15 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.
At the plate, Marli Gonzales was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Julianna Vasquez also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
As for Lamar, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.1 runs over those games.
On Lamar's side, Carlin Weber made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. Weber has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alexa Aguilar, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Khloe Fernandez, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Looking ahead, La Junta will head out to challenge Rocky Ford at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Meloneers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.67 runs per game on average), something the Tigers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Lamar, they will host Palmer Ridge at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
