The North Cross Raiders were the 34-26 winner over the New Covenant Gryphons when they last played one another back in February, but their luck changed this time around. North Cross was dealt a 47-19 loss at the hands of New Covenant on Tuesday. North Cross was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 33-7.
Brielle Walker was her usual excellent self, scoring 19 points along with 8 rebounds and 3 steals for New Covenant. The game was Walker's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ellie Jacobs, who scored 5 points along with 5 assists and 5 rebounds.
North Cross bumped their record down to 1-4 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 20.8 points per game. As for New Covenant, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.
North Cross will be playing in front of their home fans against The Covenant at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for New Covenant, they will head out on the road to face off against Lynchburg HomeSchool at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lynchburg HomeSchool will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings (they are ranked 74th, while New Covenant is ranked eighth).
