The Riverside Christian Academy Royals put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against Pine Forest by a score of 43-36. Despite the win, that was the fewest points Riverside Christian Academy has scored all season.
Riverside Christian Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Zamaria Mellette, who scored seven points along with nine rebounds. Mellette is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Paris Autry, who scored 17 points along with three steals.
Pine Forest's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Chloe Wilson, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds, and Tahlia Glover who scored 13 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Glover has scored all season.
Even though they lost, Pine Forest smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Riverside Christian Academy only pulled down three offensive rebounds.
Riverside Christian Academy's win bumped their record up to 9-0. As for Pine Forest, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-7 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Riverside Christian Academy's road trip will continue as they head out to face American Leadership Academy-Johnston at 6:30 p.m. on January 19th. As for Pine Forest, they will challenge Harnett Central at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
