Clio had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They blew past the Mt. Morris Panthers, posting a 54-20 win. For the Mustangs, this counts as revenge for the 25-8 victory the Panthers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in August of 2024.
Clio was led to victory by D'Marion Erlenbeck and Tommy Collins. Erlenbeck rushed for 130 yards and three touchdowns on only 11 carries, while Collins rushed for 117 yards and a pair of scores on only five carries. Collins got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 59 yards. Speaking of playmakers, who could forget Jackson Gillies, who went all the way with a kickoff return for a touchdown.
Coming up, Clio will take on Eastern at 7:00 p.m. on the 5th. As for Mt. Morris, they will challenge Ovid-Elsie at 7:00 p.m. on the 5th. The match will give the Panthers their first taste of in-conference action this season.
