Having just played yesterday, the Blackhawk Cougars will head out on the road to face off against Kennedy Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on December 21st. Blackhawk is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.
Blackhawk has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 20 points or more this season. They put the hurt on Union Area with a sharp 50-30 win on Wednesday. Given Blackhawk's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 29th, while Union Area is ranked 415th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Blackhawk's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Aubree Hupp, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and three steals. The match was Hupp's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrea Kinger, who scored 14 points.
Meanwhile, Kennedy Catholic scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They blew past Farrell, posting a 79-28 win on the road. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Kennedy Catholic.
It was another big night for Layke Fields, who dropped a double-double on 33 points and ten rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Kennedy Catholic's points. Another player making a difference was Monique Vincent, who scored 17 points along with eight assists and three steals.
Blackhawk's record now sits at 6-1. As for Kennedy Catholic, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Blackhawk couldn't quite finish off Kennedy Catholic when the teams last played back in January and fell 55-53. Can Blackhawk avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
