The Weston Ranch Cougars will face off against the West Wolfpack at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Weston Ranch's hitters haven't had much luck over their past three games, but Monday's contest will give them a chance to turn things around.
Weston Ranch fell victim to Soledad and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Aztecs. The matchup marked the first time this year in which the Cougars were not able to get on the board.
Weston Ranch saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Fareed Babalola, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.
Lathrop hit West with a six-run sixth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Wolfpack fell 11-8 to the Spartans.
Jackson Chiles put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. What's more, he gave up only four walks, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2025. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
In other batting news, Gavin Alvarez and Austin Hatcher stepped up to the plate in a big way. Alvarez got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Hatcher went 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Tyler Armstrong was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
West's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Weston Ranch, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.
Weston Ranch came out on top in a nail-biter against West in their previous matchup back in March of 2025, sneaking past 4-3. Do the Cougars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wolfpack turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
