It was a good run, but the St. Anthony Saints unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Saturday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 53-52 to Claremont. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as St. Anthony came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 19th, while Claremont is ranked 100th).
Despite the loss, St. Anthony still got an impressive performance from Ryann Bennett, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and six steals. Bennett hasn't dropped below two steals for six straight games. Another player making a difference was Kadence Lloyd, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
St. Anthony's defeat dropped their record down to 16-6. As for Claremont, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season.
St. Anthony on the road again on Tuesday and play against Bishop Montgomery at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Bishop Montgomery has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 437 points over their last six contests.
