Even though the Cathedral Academy Generals scored an imposing 61 points on Friday, the Christian Academy Saints still came out on top. Christian Academy pulled ahead with a 62-61 photo finish over Cathedral Academy. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Christian Academy also won the last time the pair played back in November of 2022.
Despite the loss, Cathedral Academy still got an impressive performance from Ajani Gresham, who went 6 for 8 from beyond the arc en route to 32 points and 0 assists. Gresham scored a full 52.5% of Cathedral Academy's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dominic Felix, who scored 11 points.
Cathedral Academy struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Christian Academy has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. As for Cathedral Academy, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 6-3.
Christian Academy won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Charleston Collegiate at 7:00 p.m. on December 9th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in South Carolina (Charleston Collegiate is ranked 154th, while Christian Academy is ranked 156th). As for Cathedral Academy, they will be playing at home against Clarendon Hall at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Clarendon Hall and Cathedral Academy are at an even 3-3 over their past six head-to-heads.
