Soquel suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Tuesday. They had to suffer through a rough 62-23 loss at the hands of Santa Cruz. Soquel has struggled against Santa Cruz recently, as their matchup on Tuesday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
In what's become a running theme this season, Aptos gave their fans yet another huge win on Tuesday. They put the hurt on San Lorenzo Valley with a sharp 60-34 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Aptos has posted against San Lorenzo Valley since February 4, 2020.
Aptos' success was spearheaded by the efforts of Gabby Wickham, who scored 12 points along with seven assists and four steals, and Abby Sherwood, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Sherwood has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Laurel Southall, who scored nine points along with five rebounds.
Soquel has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-10 record this season. As for Aptos, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season.
Soquel came up short against Aptos in their previous matchup on January 9th, falling 47-34. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Wickham, who scored 20 points along with four steals and two blocks.
