Two dominant backs in Carson Vineyard and Piercen Huff are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Argonia/Attica Titans will be playing at home against the Central Christian Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Central Christian will square off against a team with plenty of momentum: Argonia/Attica extended their winning streak to three on Friday. The Titans claimed a resounding 48-18 win over Fairfield. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Titans had established a 24-point advantage.
Maddex Hemberger was the offensive standout of the matchup as he threw for 154 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 passes.
Argonia/Attica didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Konner Nelson and Garrett Morrison.
Meanwhile, Central Christian put their dominant defense on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Friday. They breezed past St. Paul to the tune of 46-0. The 46-point effort marked the Cougars' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.
Argonia/Attica better keep an eye on Konnor Sullivan. He was instrumental in Central Christian's win, rushing for 105 yards and one TD on only seven carries.
Central Christian was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 292 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 220 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.
Central Christian's victory bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Argonia/Attica, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Argonia/Attica has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 178.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Central Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 289 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Argonia/Attica ended up a good deal behind Central Christian in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, losing 28-12. Thankfully for the Titans, Nathan Reed (who threw for 176 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also rushed for 32 yards and one score) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
