The Round Valley Mustangs had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They blew past Laytonville 53-26 at home. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Round Valley has posted since December 6, 2023.
Round Valley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Josey Spurlock led the charge by scoring seven points along with three steals. Spurlock is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Camryn Mitchell, who scored nine points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Round Valley's victory bumped their record up to 10-7. As for Laytonville, their defeat was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-8.
Round Valley will be playing in front of their home fans against Mendocino at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Laytonville, they will head out on the road to face off against Potter Valley at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Potter Valley comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
