The Covenant Day Lions waltzed into their matchup  on Saturday with five straight wins  but they left with six. They walked away with  a   51-43  victory over Rabun Gap-Nacoochee. Given Covenant Day's advantage  in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states  (they are ranked 16th in North Carolina, while Rabun Gap-Nacoochee is ranked 251st in Georgia), the result  wasn't entirely unexpected.
 Covenant Day got their  win on the backs of several key players, but it was  Michael Marcus Jr. out in front who  scored 12 points along with six  rebounds and two  steals.  Elijah Green was another key contributor,  scoring 11 points.
 Covenant Day's win was  their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which  pushed their record up to 17-6. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.1 points per game. As for Rabun Gap-Nacoochee, they have  been struggling recently, as they've  lost six of their last seven matches,  which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season.
 Both  teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Covenant Day will  square off against Charlotte Latin at 7:00  p.m.  on Tuesday. As for Rabun Gap-Nacoochee, Rabun Gap-Nacoochee and Christ School will face off  at 6:00  p.m.  on January 30th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. One thing working in Christ School's favor is that they have posted big  point totals  in their last eight games.
