The Kimball Jaguars will square off against the Franklin Yellowjackets at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Monday, Kimball didn't have too much trouble with Mountain House at home as they won 56-41. The victory was just what Kimball needed coming off of a 67-47 loss in their prior contest.
Kimball's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Aniaya Garcia led the charge by scoring 13 points along with 4 steals. Garcia is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Ella Gregory, who scored 10 points along with 8 rebounds and 3 blocks.
Meanwhile, Franklin took care of business in their home opener last Monday (and then some). They really took it to Turlock Christian for the full four quarters, racking up a 51-15 victory at home. With Franklin ahead 31-6 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Franklin found their leader in underclassman Nicole Belasco, who scored 17 points along with 6 steals. Cheyenne Pitts was another key contributor, scoring 8 points.
Clayton Valley Charter's win bumped their season record to 0-0 while Kimball's loss dropped theirs to 1-1.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Kimball have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 21.7 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Franklin struggles in that department as they've been even better at 34 per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
