San Gorgonio is 9-1 against Indian Springs since May of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Spartans will head out on the road to take on the COYOTES at 11:00 a.m. San Gorgonio is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.
San Gorgonio came up short against Eisenhower on Friday, falling 8-2.
San Gorgonio saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Andy Contreras, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI. That double was Contreras' first of the season. Jordan Sanchez was another, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Meanwhile, after low-scoring totals in their previous four contests, Indian Springs brought some dynamite into their most recent matchup. They came out on top against Entrepreneur on Thursday by a score of 16-0 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The victory was a breath of fresh air for the COYOTES as it put an end to their six-game losing streak.
Jerry Figueroa and Trevor Nadeau made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Figueroa pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Nadeau pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Figueroa has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. At the plate, Figueroa scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2, while Nadeau went 2-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Jacob Garcia was incredible, scoring two runs while going 4-for-4. Another player making a difference was Gio Alonzo, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.
Indian Springs always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .714. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Indian Springs picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 2-10. As for San Gorgonio, their loss dropped their record down to 2-11.
Everything went San Gorgonio's way against Indian Springs in their previous meeting back in April of 2021, as San Gorgonio made off with an 8-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Spartans since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
