This season hasn't been kind to The Grand Prairie Gophers, who are still winless after their ninth game. They were beaten by Martin 58-10 on Friday. Martin was led to victory by Daylon Cobb and Brooks Briggance. Cobb rushed for 113 yards and three touchdowns on only six carries, while Briggance threw for 201 yards and three touchdowns while completing 87.5% of his passes. Another player making a difference was Alex Mathiesen, who rushed for 56 yards and a touchdown.
Grand Prairie's loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 0-9. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 12.6 points per game. As for Martin, the win was the fifth in a row for they, bringing their record for this year to 5-3.
Grand Prairie will be playing at home against Sam Houston at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Sam Houston is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Martin, they will head out on the road to face off against Arlington at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
