The Liberty Bison will head out on the road to face off against the West Valley Mustangs at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Liberty will be strutting in after a victory while West Valley will be coming in after a loss.
Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to post nine more assists than your opponent, a fact Liberty proved on Tuesday. They walked away with a 43-35 win over Elsinore. The win was just what Liberty needed coming off of a 64-24 defeat in their prior contest.
Liberty's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Alex Barajas, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and six steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which Barajas has scored at least 25% of Liberty's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kelli Harris-Wellman, who scored six points along with 13 rebounds and four steals.
Meanwhile, West Valley's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They had to suffer through a rough 58-26 loss at the hands of Tahquitz.
Liberty's win bumped their record up to 5-6. As for West Valley, they have fallen quite a ways from their 16-5 record last season and are now at 0-3.
Liberty was dealt a bruising 56-15 loss at the hands of West Valley when the teams last played back in January. The game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Liberty was down 35-8.
