The Bonita Bearcats waltzed into their matchup on Friday with two straight wins but they left with three. They walked away with a 39-26 victory over Claremont. This was payback for Bonita, who suffered a 43-34 loss the last time these two teams met.
Among those leading the charge was Naomi Acuna, who scored 14 points. Lexi Mercado was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Bonita is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. As for Claremont, their loss dropped their record down to 13-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bonita will face off against Glendora at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Glendora focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 on Friday. As for Claremont, they will head out on the road to face off against Ayala at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Ayala will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 462nd, while Claremont is ranked 101st).
